Worcestershire County Council and Severn Arts are inviting Worcestershire artists to submit a proposal for a 60-second digital commission focused on moments of happiness and hope.

Eight commissions will be awarded and showcased online on 21 December as part of the It Gets Lighter From Here campaign led by Culture Central, a collective voice for Arts and Culture in the West Midlands.

Artists at all stages of their career and working in all artforms are encouraged put forward a proposal by 12 midday on Monday 23 November. Artists must be able to outline their connection to Worcestershire in their application and proposals should creatively explore the themes of happiness and hope. Selected artists will each receive £250 for the commission.

Elaine Knight, Arts Director, Severn Arts said: "We are pleased to be able to offer another opportunity to artists across the county at what continues to be a very difficult time for our sector. The campaign aims to showcase a huge cross-section of artists and artforms so we are hoping this commissioning opportunity will be an inspiring challenge and that we receive a good mix of proposals."

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, Cabinet Member for Communities for Worcestershire County Council added: "This is a fantastic opportunity for Worcestershire’s artists to showcase their work and share some positivity during this challenging period. I encourage local artists to get involved and celebrate this sector."
