Young musicians can join Severn Arts music centre groups and ensembles for free if they are receiving free school meals or other benefits.

From Monday 21 September Severn Arts is restarting its music centre groups and ensembles after a short break due to Coronavirus. The groups and ensembles will meet virtually on a weekly basis using Zoom. Players aged 7 – 25 of all levels - from competent beginner through to grade 6 level, are invited to join. Membership for the 10-week Autumn term is £30 for music centre members, £35 for ensemble members and £35 if players want to join more than one group/ensemble. Membership and instrument hire are free for players meeting one or more of Severn Arts criteria such as, receiving free school meals or on income support - the full list is on the Help with costs section of the Severn Arts website.

Laura Worsfold, CEO, Severn Arts said: “We want as many young people as possible to be able to take part in our music centre groups and ensembles, but we know that due to financial circumstances some families may struggle to meet the costs. We hope that by raising awareness of our free membership offer and free instrument hire we will get more young musicians joining and reaping the rewards of practicing and rehearsing with others.

We are also hoping that at the end of the Autumn term we will have some recorded virtual performances to share online.
