What we are looking for

We are seeking artists working in any art-form to deliver workshops in an engaging and active manner to young people in venues across West Mercia (with most in Worcestershire).

Severn Arts have been funded by West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion, the South Worcestershire Community Safety Partnership and The Children’s Society to provide a programme of arts activities aimed at reducing the likelihood of young people becoming involved in Childhood Criminal Exploitation.

The programme, entitled Future is Now, will be delivered in partnership with The Children’s Society (TCS) and their CLIMB programme: https://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/climb and with Get Safe: Get Safe - keeping children and young people safe from criminal exploitation | Worcestershire County Council and the Positive Outcomes Project Team (POP): https://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/pop

Many of the young people who will be involved are living in challenging circumstances and sometimes have behavioural issues.  We would expect the artists we commission to have experience of working with young people in similar situations.  Partner staff will be present during the activities.

Future is Now programme aims

The aim of the Future is Now arts programme is to prevent the likelihood of young people from becoming involved in Childhood Criminal Exploitation.  Enabling young people to engage in positive activity and developing their interests in the arts is one way of addressing this, but the sessions need to go further and share some positive messaging about what makes a healthy relationship, raise awareness of exploitation and support young people to develop hopes and dreams for the future.  Session plans will need to contribute to the outcomes outlined in the artist’s brief.

The Fee

Artist fees are detailed in the artist brief.
