Body percussion SPECIAL OFFER for Worcestershire schools 10-week whole-class body percussion teaching package for just £30! Severn Arts is offering all Worcestershire first, primary, middle and special schools subsidised access to a newly developed body percussion unit of work for use during the Summer term 2021. Body percussion is an excellent alternative to instruments and singing. The sessions are energetic, fun and easy to teach, you don’t need any instruments and your teachers can learn alongside the children. The unit of work we are offering has been developed by Leicestershire Music Education Hub. It is aimed at whole class teaching for years 4 – 6 and covers all required music elements in the curriculum. About the unit of work No instruments needed Each lesson features call and response activities tailored and specific to the learning objectives All planning and resources provided, plus new learning and teaching embedded into the tutorial videos Teachers can learn the exciting and limitless possibilities of body percussion alongside the children What skills and outcomes will the children learn? Transferable music skills and techniques Performing in time and as part of a round Performing within a polyrhythm Composing using different timbres and with a sense of structure Reading, understanding and creating body percussion notation Musical terminology including timbre, tempo, syncopation, beats, bars and rests Rhythms from around the world including the clave rhythm from Cuba and the chaal rhythm from India Individual and whole-class performance and composition, with children learning up to three unique body percussion performances and having an opportunity to compose their own pieces All schools who apply for this special offer before Friday 19 March 2021 will have access to the resources from the first week in April until the end of the Summer term 2020.
