Join Severn Arts in the worldwide celebration of music on Monday 21 June 2021.

Make Music Day UK is a free celebration of music around the world. The event launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique and is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries on the summer solstice. On 21 June every year thousands of events take place across the globe in what becomes the world’s largest DIY music festival.

At Severn Arts we are celebrating Make Music Day 2021 with the creation of a brand-new performance called 'In Our Reflections.' ‘In Our Reflections’ combines a wonderful score written by David Cowell and a spoken word poem by our Young Poet Laureate, Ellie Dart. The piece, which includes instrumental and vocal parts for all abilities, is performed by over 650 young people at school or living in Worcestershire.

‘In Our Reflections’ will be premiered here on Monday 21 June. The performance can also be watched afterwards on our YouTube channel.

On Make Music Day we will also be showcasing the choir, whole-class (FAME) and group instrumental performances that schools in Worcestershire have shared with us. And for a bit of fun we are asking individuals and families to post up their pictures of them music-making in an unusual place on Make Music Day and tag in @SevernArts – the quirkiest picture will receive a shiny new ukulele.
