Irrespective of academic ability, learning to sing or play a musical instrument has a wide range of benefits to a child’s emotional well-being and wider educational development including:
- Boosting confidence
- Providing positive focus
- Increasing concentration and memory skills
- Improving behaviour
- Developing co-operation and teamwork
- Supporting development of skills in other areas such as language and maths
Severn Arts has a team of highly skilled music teachers who are able to deliver lessons on almost any instrument and in any style. Lessons take place either in school or at one of our Area Music Centres.
Lessons in School
Lessons during school time are organised and invoiced by your child’s school. Each school decides which instruments they would like to take lessons in, subject to pupil demand. Severn Arts charges schools at a standard hourly rate and schools set their own charging policies. Please contact your school office or Music Co-ordinator to find out which instruments they take and how much they charge for lessons.
You should also ensure that your child has an instrument before they commence lessons. These can be hired from Severn Arts. Please allow two weeks for delivery.
Lessons at Music Centres
We also offer opportunities to take lessons outside of the school day at our four Music Centres:
- Bromsgrove
- St John’s CE Middle School Academy
- Kidderminster
- Kidderminster College
- Malvern
- The Grove Primary School
- Worcester
- Christopher Whitehead Language College
To apply for Music Centre lessons please complete the application form and submit to our offices. If you have any other queries please email [email protected] and your request will be forwarded to the relevant co-ordinator.
