We are now accepting applications for the highly popular Big Sing project for next year!

Next year’s event will take place on Tuesday 18th June 2019 at the University of Worcester Arena. The event tends to get booked up quickly, so be sure to apply early to avoid disappointment. The final deadline for applications is 14th January 2019.

The Big Sing is a fabulous event, where pupils gather from around the county to sing prepared pieces as part of a huge singing workshop. The event is for Key Stage 2, from year 3 upwards.

Next year we will be welcoming a new course leader – acclaimed conductor David Lawrence.

About David Lawrence

David Lawrence is one of the UK’s most versatile conductors, working with orchestras, symphony choruses and national youth choirs. He has conducted in more than 25 countries, including Canada, Colombia, India, Singapore, the USA, the UAE, and has worked regularly in Australia since 2005. David is Choral Advisor to Sinfonia Viva, Associate Conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Assistant Conductor of the London Symphony Chorus, and conductor of two of the LSO’s Community Choirs. He has worked with most of the UK’s symphony choruses, and for ten years was a regular guest conductor of the Netherlands Radio Choir. For twenty years David has conducted for BBC’s Songs of Praise, and he is a well-known conductor of ‘big sing’ events, such as the 700-voice Spem in Alium he conducted for BBC Four. He has directed large scale education projects for many of the UK’s orchestras and opera companies and as Principal Conductor of Young Voices, a position he has held for 19 years, David directs massed choirs in an annual series of concerts, with some choirs incorporating more than 8,000 singers.

CPD Event – 26th March 2019

School staff are invited to attend a CPD event on 26th March 2019, led by David Lawrence, where he will go through the music and offer tips to get the most out of the event.

This will take place at  Severn Arts Headquarters.

Places are priced at £30 per attendee and can be booked via the application form below.

Taking photographs of the event has been an issue in previous years, with pupils who are not able to be photographed being seated in areas where we, the University and other schools may wish to take photos to celebrate what is a thoroughly joyful day. Rather than segregate pupils who cannot be photographed, which can make them feel self conscious and left out, the decision has been made this year to do this by school. If you have any pupils attending who may not be photographed for whatever reason, we ask that you indicate this on your application form and you will be seated in a section of the auditorium which everyone attending will be instructed not to photograph.

Thank you for your understanding.
