Every year, one young person from Worcestershire is given the title Worcestershire's Young Poet Laureate. In this role, our Young Poet Laureate champions poetry as an art form with the aim of encouraging and inspiring other young people to write and perform poetry.

This year we ran our competition for 3 different age groups – 8 – 11, 12 – 15 and 16 -18.

And the winners are...

Ellie Dart has been crowned Worcestershire's Young Poet Laureate 2020 and Amber McAndrew and Joshua Dyer, are the poetry competition winners for their age groups.

Poems by Ellie Dart, Amber McAndrew, Joshua Dyer and other competition finalists can all be read in the online collection below.

Young Poet Laureate not only celebrates young people’s writing talent, but gives them an opportunity to perform to a wide range
of audiences, building confidence and offering a platform to get their work into a public arena. Ellie had the unique experience of delivering her lovely positive poem, Discovering Joy to our staff and Trustees via Zoom; something we hope she will
always remember! We aim to highlight Ellie’s work and that of our other young poets both online and physically soon as we are
able to. We hope that she will gain a lot from her year as the county’s youth voice.
