From January 2019 to March 2023 Severn Arts was a lead partner in The Arches Worcester Project and the delivery partner for the festivals strand of this project. Over the four years, the project funding provided by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), administered by Arts Council England (ACE), enabled the festivals team to produce four Light Nights, In Memoriam, an art installation by Luke Jerram, Same But Different, Atmosphere and The Rising festivals.
The festivals engaged with over 160,000 people, employed 145 artists and arts organisations, presented 180 performances, worked with 488 community participants, created 19 graduate employment opportunities and engaged with 126 volunteers.
Severn Arts also worked with community festivals including The Mela, Worcester Music Festival, Worcester Carnival and Love the Arbo providing longer term support to help them develop, reach new audiences and increase engagement. Worcester City Council have committed to on-going support for this work.

Light Night in particular surpassed all our expectations and we are delighted to announce that with Arts Council England funding Severn Arts will deliver the fifth Light Night for Worcester in February 2024. The programme will celebrate and showcase light-based artworks and installations alongside inspiring artistic commissions for local artists. It will include participatory projects for community groups and the public and have the added entertainment of interesting and engaging walkabout artists.
We want to make this Light Night the best yet and we’re on the search for sponsors. If you would like to take advantage of a high profile opportunity to showcase your company to Light Night’s many audiences then please download our sponsorship brochure and contact Severn Arts to find out more: [email protected]
