Young musicians from Limerick will
join Worcestershire Youth Orchestra for special performance.
Worcestershire Youth Orchestra have invited the Limerick School of Music to perform with them in a special concert taking place in St Martins Church, Worcester on Saturday 10 February from 3 – 5pm. 

The Limerick School of Music (LSOM) Senior Orchestra & Guitar Ensemble will perform as part of their tour of Worcestershire and Warwickshire.LSOM are travelling from Ireland to tour the UK for just a few days, performing first in Worcester and then moving on to Stratford-upon-Avon to perform with the Coventry & Warwickshire Youth Orchestra.

Youth Orchestra are really looking forward to our concert with the Limerick School of Music Senior Orchestra.

It will be an amazing opportunity for all our participants and it’s going to be such an exciting and memorable performance - as we’ve got over 80 young musicians performing in this concert! I’m particularly looking forward to moment when both groups perform an arrangement of Bernstein’sMambo to conclude the concert. 

Limerick School of Music is the largest provider of music education in the Mid-West Region. Over the past number of years, the School’s Orchestra have performed all over Ireland, highlights including the National Concert Hall Dublin, City Hall Cork and UCH Limerick.

Anna Jane Ryan, Deputy Principal of Limerick School of Music said: The Orchestra members are very much looking forward to the collaboration with Worcestershire Youth Orchestra and look forward to hopefully welcoming WYO back to Limerick in the near future.

The concert programme will include music fromHow To Train Your Dragonalongside Finlandia by Sibelius and more! Worcestershire Youth Orchestra will be conducted by Richard Jenkinson and the Limerick School of Music Senior Orchestra will be conducted by Anna Jane Ryan and the Guitar Ensemble is directed by John O’Shea.

by Arts Council England, teaching music in all types of education settings, on the travelling Music Box and in music groups, bands and orchestras which meet outside of school. Below is a summary of the music groups, bands and orchestras.
 

  • FREE Lift Off! groupsin Worcester, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster, Malvern and Evesham. Lift Off! is open to all school aged children from beginner up to grade 1 level. No musical experience is needed to take part.       

  • FREE music centre groupsin Worcester, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster and Malvern. These groups are open to all children aged 5 years and above who are competent beginners up to grade 3 level.     

  • Worcestershire Intermediate Orchestrasforyoung musicians playing at grade 4 and above and the youth bands and orchestras are for those playing at grade 6 and above. The fee for joining our bands and orchestras is £50.00 a term or £150.00 a year and members can join as many bands as they like for one fee.
